George Brace and his mentor, George
Burke, began their baseball photo collection in 1929. George Brace
continued it through the 1993 season. If a player came to Chicago
during that time, he was captured on film. We have preserved a
massive archive consisting of hundreds upon thousands of negatives.
All negatives are original, large format negatives, depicting more
than 10,000 players, which includes Hall of Famers as well as
obscure players.
George Brace has
since passed away but his memory and his work lives on through the
dedication and hard work of his daughter Mary who has taken on her
father's legacy in sharing these wonderful photos with the public.

These players were photographed on their first appearance in Chicago
as a major leaguer. They were also taken throughout their careers
with any new clubs. The George Brace Collection includes group
shots, minor leagues, shots with family and fans, Chicago team
groups, or events at the parks, Wrigley and Comiskey Park. We also
have historic shots of Wrigley Field and Comiskey Park and some of
the Chicago Bears!
If you or
someone you know is a big fan of old time baseball then this site is
sure to please you. Please check back often as we will be
adding new photos and working on continuing this online archive of
baseball history.

The stream of thought flows on; but most of its segments fall into
the bottomless abyss of oblivion. Of some, no memory survives the
instant of their passage. Of others, it is confined to a few
moments, hours or days. Others, again, leave vestiges which are
indestructible, and by means of which they may be recalled as long
as life endures.
